General Abubakar Tanko Ayuba who died on Wednesday after an illness in a hospital in Lagos, was laid to rest on Thursday (yesterday) in Kebbi state according to Islamic rites. Late General was buried earlier in his hometown.
At the burial was His Excellency Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Deputy Governor Samaila Yombe, Nigerian Armed Forces representatives, Senator Mohammed Magoro, Cabinet members, state representatives, royal fathers and many Nigerian dignitaries.
He was a well respected citizen of Dirin-Daji in Sakaba Local Government area of Kebbi State. He was a former Governor of old Kaduna State, a Minister of Communications and a representative of Kebbi State at the Nigerian Senate between 1997 and 2007. He is survived by his wife Mrs Ronke Ayuba, 8 children one of which is his daughter Mrs Rakiya Tanko Ayuba, the current Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Kebbi State and 8 grandchildren.
