Former President Goodluck Jonathan has only been able to amass 2,636 followers since he joined Twitter over 24 hours ago.
Jonathan, who joined twitter on Wednesday morning, has tweeted five times and followed six accounts, four of which belong to the presidents of Ghana, America, Kenya and Cote d’Ivoire.
The other two accounts are those of Jimmy Carter’s library and GEJ foundation.
Jonathan’s twitter journey in over 24 hours can be regarded as poor, when compared with President Muhammdu Buhari’ or woefully poor, when placed side-by-side that of US President, Barack Obama.
Buhari joined Twitter on December 22, 2014 with the account @ThisisBuhari, amassing over 12,000 followers in 6 hours.
Within 24 hours, Buhari had hit the 20,000 mark, with the race for the 2015 presidency underway.
Obama broke the world record in May 2015, when his @POTUS account grossed at 1.88 million followers in 24 hours.
However, internationally, American transgender, Caitlyn Jenner, beat Obama’s record to the first million followers.
Jenner had a million followers in four hours and three minutes, while Obama had the same in five hours. Ironically, Obama currently has 5.33 million followers while Jenner has just 3.34 million.
As at 5:30pm on Thursday, Buhari’s verified handle @Mbuhari had a total following of 503,000 people.
How fast will Jonathan, the most popular president on Facebook in 2010, fare on Twitter after verification?
