Yesterday, 'Area boys' took over Abule-Ado area of Lagos in a free-for-all fight between themselves over who will be in charge of collecting fees. Today, what the residents thought was over -upgraded from a street fight to armed robbery.
The hoodlums who came in their numbers with different arms, weapons and charms -attacked themselves and other innocent traders selling phones and other things in the area. They went from shop to shop stealing new phones and disposing the packets in order to carry many (see pictures below)...
According to an eyewitness, following the clash yesterday, a police van was stationed in the area today..The police having stayed for long -thought that peace had been restored and left. Immediately they left towards evening, the touts regrouped themselves and engaged each other.. About six security vans (including army and police) stormed the area after the fight -as seen in the pictures below...
The worst part is the traders who lost their goods and properties including cash during the shop to shop raid. The residents are scared -as they saying that yesterday was the "training", today was the "real match" and they don't know what tomorrow will be... This is umpteenth time it has happened. Adequate security is urgently needed in the area...
