A CAREER criminal has been convicted of having underage sex with a teenager after they watched an Austin Powers film together.
Jonathan Jowle, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child and had 28 months added to an 11 year sentence for grievous bodily harm and assault in an unrelated case.
The incident took place in August last year when the girl was 13-years-old and found herself alone with Jowle – who had 19 convictions for 28 offences to his name although none were related to sex.
After watching the DVD the girl said she was tired and Jowle offered her his bed before taking off her trousers and having unprotected sex with her.
He did this despite the victim telling him “I don’t think so” with her ordeal lasting around six minutes, reported the Derby Telegraph.
She then broke down when she told her family about the incident a few days later which led to the police becoming involved.
Jowle was handed his 11 year sentence a month after he had underage sex with the girl with his DNA found on the DVD case and her clothes.
Sentencing him at Derby Crown Court, Judge Peter Cooke said: “You took advantage of the situation that arose and this is a situation where you are already serving a long sentence for an unrelated matter and I have to bear in mind totality (of sentence).
“An aggravating feature is the disparity in age between you and that this was unprotected sex with a 13-year-old girl.”
