Many Dead As Boko Haram Fighters Attack Cameroonian Village Near Nigerian Border.


Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked a remote village in Cameroon, killing 15 people and kidnapping eight others in an overnight raid near the Nigerian border. It was reported that the attackers burned down around 30 houses in Gakara village, just outside the town of Kolofata, which has been a frequent target of suicide bombings by the Islamist group.

It also reports a government source to say that 15 people had been killed in the attack, all from gunshot wounds except one who was burned alive. The militants also left 30 others with bullet wounds.

Boko Haram has waged a near-decade insurgency, aiming to instill strict sharia governance in West Africa.During that period, the militant group has killed more than 20,000 people and displaced around 2.7 million others.
